Roles & Responsibilities
- Operate mammography equipment and perform high-quality imaging exams following departmental protocols
- Provide clear patient education and obtain informed consent before procedures
- Maintain and document daily QA and preventative maintenance to meet FDA and accreditation standards
- Ensure accurate patient identification and complete medical history review prior to imaging
- Maintain detailed patient records in the EHR and ensure prior studies are available for radiologist review
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate service calls when needed
- Support quality improvement initiatives and suggest procedural or policy enhancements
- Assist with clerical duties, patient transport, and cross-training of imaging staff as needed
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program (required)
- ARRT registration in Radiology (R) and Mammography (M) (required)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 90 days of hire (required)
- Legally authorized to work in the United States and able to pass background and pre-employment drug screen
- Preferred: Two years' experience as a practicing Radiologic Technologist with experience in CT and MRI
- Preferred: Cross-training in CT, MRI, and DEXA; experience with PACS and RIS/HIS systems
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven expertise in mammography imaging procedures and radiation safety (ALARA principles)
- Experience with PACS, RIS, HIS, and electronic health records
- Strong patient education and communication skills to deliver compassionate care
- Quality assurance, accreditation record-keeping, and regulatory compliance knowledge
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot imaging equipment per manufacturer recommendations
- Organizational skills for inventory management and maintaining accurate records
- Flexibility to assist other modalities and adapt to changing schedules
