Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients on medical-surgical and telemetry units with clear, compassionate communication
• Interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms promptly, escalating changes in condition per protocol
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately
• Document patient care thoroughly in the electronic health record to ensure continuity
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and update individualized care plans
• Provide patient and family education that empowers recovery and understanding
• Participate in unit-specific competency testing and skills validation to maintain high standards

Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa (or compact RN license where applicable)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• TNCC and NIHSS certifications as listed are required/expected
• License/certificate verification will be completed during onboarding
• Experience in medical-surgical nursing and telemetry monitoring preferred
• Ability to pass required health screenings (fit test, drug screen, immunizations)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment skills
• Skilled in medication administration and IV therapy
• Clear, timely documentation in electronic health records
• Teamwork, communication, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced setting
• Comfort with competency testing and ongoing skills validation
