Roles & Responsibilities

• Design and deliver high-quality clinical education and training for long-term care staff in Sitka and Wrangell
• Partner with clinical leaders to standardize and implement clinical competency programs that meet accreditation and policy standards
• Develop curriculum, training programs, and assessment tools that support evidence-based practice and improved patient outcomes
• Support onboarding and preceptorships, coordinating student clinical experiences with UAA/UAS
• Evaluate and assess educational activities to ensure effectiveness and continuous improvement
• Serve as a collaborative member of the clinical education team, contributing to consortium-wide projects
• Act as liaison for other clinical education opportunities and support competency compliance across sites

Qualifications

• Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hire must have applied for an Alaska license before the start date)
• BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) from an accredited nursing program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for providers required
• BLS Instructor certification preferred — or must be obtained within 1 year of hire
• Clinical Competency Assessment required within 3 months of hire (and ongoing per policy)
• 5 years of professional nursing experience, including at least 2 years in long-term care
• 2 years of clinical instructor/educator experience (one year may be substituted with supervisory experience)
• Supervisory experience preferred

Education

• BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) — graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of adult learning principles and curriculum development
• Experience standardizing competency programs and evaluating educational outcomes
• Skilled in evidence-based practice and applying research to education strategies
• Comfortable collaborating with clinical leaders to align training with care objectives
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
• Familiarity with education delivery modalities and tools (Microsoft Teams, Workday, Canva, Articulate, Smartsheet, SharePoint, PowerPoint)
• Ability to create positive, patient-centered training environments and provide leadership and guidance
