Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor, and provide compassionate care for medical-surgical telemetry patients using sound clinical judgment
- Interpret telemetry and promptly escalate clinical changes to the care team
- Administer medications and treatments safely and document care accurately in the electronic health record
- Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary team to support positive patient outcomes
- Perform admissions, discharges, and patient education focused on recovery and self-care
- Participate in emergency response and follow ACLS protocols when needed
- Complete required Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and skills checklists to maintain high-quality practice
- Adhere to infection control policies and complete required health screenings and vaccinations
Qualifications
- Active Nursing License (RN) required
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- TNCC and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience in medical-surgical telemetry nursing preferred
- Ability to pass required pre-employment screenings (2-step PPD or IGRA, drug screen, fit test) and provide immunization/health documentation
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation
- Medical-surgical clinical assessment and interventions
- ACLS protocols and emergency response
- Strong documentation skills in electronic health records
- Excellent communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary staff
- Infection control practices and PPE fit testing knowledge
- Comfort with facility-specific competency testing and skills verification
