Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct, compassionate care to medical/surgical and critically ill patients from admission through discharge
- Assess patients continuously and implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision
- Operate and monitor advanced medical equipment including ventilators and invasive lines (A-lines, central lines)
- Manage multiple IVs and IV pumps, chest tubes, and other advanced monitoring devices
- Serve as a clinical leader on the unit — give direction to RN/LPN/CNA and ancillary staff
- Assist with precepting and mentoring new staff to build a stronger clinical team
- Coordinate discharge planning and collaborate with providers, charge nurses, and leadership
- Document patient care accurately and communicate changes in condition promptly
Qualifications
- Current Montana RN licensure (required)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
- PALS, EPNC, TNCC certifications (preferred)
- Practice experience in an advanced medical/surgical unit with recent critical care nursing experience (required)
- Demonstrated ability to operate ventilators, manage invasive lines, chest tubes, and multiple IV pumps
- Clinical leadership and precepting experience preferred
Education
- Degree from an accredited nursing program (Nursing degree required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and direct patient care for med/surg and critically ill patients
- Advanced monitoring and use of invasive lines (A-lines, central lines)
- Ventilator support and management of patients requiring ventilatory assistance
- IV management, multiple IVs and IV pump operation
- Care for chest tubes and other advanced medical equipment
- Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication skills
