Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to neonatal patients in the NICU
- Monitor and assess newborns continuously, recognizing and escalating changes in condition
- Administer medications and therapies safely, following protocols and physician orders
- Collaborate with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate care
- Perform accurate documentation and handoffs to maintain continuity of care
- Support and educate families, offering clear explanations and emotional support during critical moments
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (state licensing per assignment)
- Experience working in a Neonatal ICU / NICU (travel assignments welcome)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) highly preferred
- Comfort with night shift responsibilities and fast-paced critical care environments
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-first mindset
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Assessment and care of premature and term neonates
- Familiarity with ventilators, CPAP, and advanced respiratory support for neonates
- IV pump management, central line care, and neonatal medication administration
- Neonatal monitoring, interpretation of vital trends, and alarm management
- Family-centered care and effective bedside education techniques
- Ability to prioritize, triage, and respond to emergencies in the NICU
