Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for nuclear medicine studies with care and clear communication
- Perform high-quality diagnostic nuclear medicine scans following established protocols
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and document procedures accurately
- Operate and monitor equipment such as gamma cameras, dose calibrators, well counters, and thyroid uptake probes
- Troubleshoot and report equipment issues to keep the imaging suite running smoothly
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and radiation safety practices in the work area
- Participate in teaching and instructional activities to share knowledge with colleagues
- Provide compassionate patient care for people of all ages, adapting to developmental and clinical needs
Qualifications
- Current Hawai'i license as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (required)
- Current BLS/HCP certification (required)
- One (1) year of Nuclear Medicine experience preferred — new grads welcome to apply
- Demonstrated knowledge of radiopharmaceutical administration and radiation safety
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with radiologists and physicians
- Critical thinking and independent practice skills suited for a single-tech rural site
- Ability to care for patients across the lifespan
Education
- Current Hawai'i Nuclear Medicine Technologist license (required)
- Current BLS/HCP certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Radiopharmaceutical administration and radiation safety best practices
- Diagnostic nuclear medicine imaging techniques
- Operation of gamma cameras, dose calibrators, survey meters, well counters, and thyroid uptake probes
- Equipment troubleshooting and routine maintenance
- Patient preparation, positioning, and compassionate patient care
- Clear communication with radiologists, physicians, and the care team
- Teaching/instruction and the ability to work independently in a rural setting
- Critical thinking and adaptability to varied clinical scenarios
