Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and treat speech, language, and swallowing disorders to improve patients' communication and safety
- Develop and maintain clear, patient-focused plans of care and progress documentation
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, dietitians, and other team members to deliver coordinated care
- Provide education and in-service training to staff to share best practices and research-based recommendations
- Contact insurance companies to clarify benefits and support patient access to care
- Prepare for evaluation and treatment sessions and ensure treatment areas are clean and ready
- Deliver supportive guidance to patients and families to help them navigate the hospital experience
- Perform other clinical tasks as requested to contribute to excellent patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program (required)
- Eligible for and must maintain Wisconsin Speech-Language Pathologist license
- Current BLS certification required
- Valid driver's license required
- 1+ years of related work experience preferred; hospital experience is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and evidence of accurate clinical documentation
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (accredited program required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Assessment and treatment of speech, language, and swallowing disorders
- Strong clinical documentation: evaluations, plans of care, progress notes, discharges
- Patient-centered interdisciplinary collaboration and communication
- Intermediate computer proficiency for charting and documentation
- Quantitative and analytical skills to support clinical decision-making
- Ability to create and deliver engaging in-service presentations and staff education
- Problem-solving mindset and excellent interpersonal communication
