Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate critical care to adult ICU patients
- Continuously assess and monitor complex patient conditions and trends
- Administer medications and advanced interventions according to protocols
- Operate and manage ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring and ICU equipment
- Actively participate in codes, rapid responses and multidisciplinary rounds
- Document patient care clearly and timely in the electronic health record
- Educate and support patients and families during critical care episodes
- Maintain competency through Trinity specialty testing and skills checklists
Qualifications
- Active RN license valid for Iowa (License/Certificate Verification required)
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- TNCC and NIHSS certifications as required for unit practice
- Prior ICU or critical care nursing experience preferred
- Successful completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
- Ability to pass Trinity 10 panel drug screen and fit test
- Up-to-date immunizations and health screenings (COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Tdap, Influenza, Varicella, PPD/IGRA)
- Physical/health statement confirming ability to perform ICU duties
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong critical thinking and rapid clinical decision-making
- Proficiency with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
- Comfort with high-acuity procedures and advanced cardiac life support
- Skilled in patient/family communication under stress
- Familiarity with stroke assessment using NIHSS
- Competence with electronic health records and accurate documentation
- Ability to follow specialty competency testing and skills checklists
- Team-oriented approach and effective interdisciplinary collaboration
