Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients using established clinical protocols and sound clinical judgment
- Provide comprehensive primary care and manage acute and chronic conditions
- Initiate and modify treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians
- Coordinate patient care, referrals, and follow-up to ensure safe outcomes
- Document assessments, plans, and progress clearly in the medical record
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, prevention, and self-care
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse/Nurse Practitioner license with the California Board of Registered Nursing
- Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program that meets California standards
- Current AHA BLS certification required
- Current AHA ACLS certification required if functioning with inpatient privileges
- Certification by ANCC, AANP, PCNB, NCC, or AACN accepted as appropriate
- Comfort working under physician supervision and following clinic treatment protocols
Education
- Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program (meets CA Board standards)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
- Familiarity with and ability to follow clinical protocols and treatment pathways
- Experience initiating and modifying treatment plans safely
- Effective physician collaboration and clear communication
- Patient education, care coordination, and discharge planning
- Accurate documentation and facility with electronic health records
