Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire the surgical services team to deliver safe, efficient perioperative care
• Oversee daily operating room operations, including staffing, workflows, and resource allocation
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, hospital policies, and quality metrics
• Coordinate closely with surgeons, anesthesiology, PACU, and ancillary departments for seamless patient care
• Implement short-term and long-term solutions to identified problems in the surgical department
• Mentor, develop, and evaluate nursing staff to build a skilled, confident team
• Respond calmly and effectively during emergencies and support the team in critical situations
• Manage physical demands of the role while promoting a safe working environment

Qualifications

• Current California RN license (required)
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (required)
• Minimum 5 years RN experience, including at least 2 years as a circulating RN in surgery (required)
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (required)
• CNOR certification preferred
• One year post-anesthesia care (PACU) experience preferred
• Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience preferred
• Strong written and oral English skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent required

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing principles and surgical services management
• Circulating RN responsibilities and OR workflows
• Patient safety, infection control, and emergency response procedures
• Strong leadership, delegation, and team-building skills
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods as needed
• Comfort working cooperatively with patients, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams
