Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire the surgical services team to deliver safe, efficient perioperative care
- Oversee daily operating room operations, including staffing, workflows, and resource allocation
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, hospital policies, and quality metrics
- Coordinate closely with surgeons, anesthesiology, PACU, and ancillary departments for seamless patient care
- Implement short-term and long-term solutions to identified problems in the surgical department
- Mentor, develop, and evaluate nursing staff to build a skilled, confident team
- Respond calmly and effectively during emergencies and support the team in critical situations
- Manage physical demands of the role while promoting a safe working environment
Qualifications
- Current California RN license (required)
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (required)
- Minimum 5 years RN experience, including at least 2 years as a circulating RN in surgery (required)
- Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (required)
- CNOR certification preferred
- One year post-anesthesia care (PACU) experience preferred
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience preferred
- Strong written and oral English skills
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent required
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative nursing principles and surgical services management
- Circulating RN responsibilities and OR workflows
- Patient safety, infection control, and emergency response procedures
- Strong leadership, delegation, and team-building skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods as needed
- Comfort working cooperatively with patients, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams
