Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care for medical-surgical telemetry patients
- Monitor cardiac telemetry and respond quickly to rhythm changes and alarms
- Perform thorough assessments, document findings, and update the interdisciplinary team
- Administer medications and treatments safely according to hospital policy
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate patient care plans
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning
- Participate in competency testing and skills checklists to maintain unit standards
- Support unit initiatives for patient safety, infection control, and quality improvement
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse credential (RN) or equivalent nursing license
- BLS certification (required)
- ACLS certification (required)
- TNCC certification (required)
- NIHSS certification (required)
- Current license verification and ability to meet facility credentialing requirements
- Comfortable working with telemetry monitoring and medical-surgical patient populations
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Strong medical-surgical assessment and clinical decision-making
- Medication administration and IV care
- Effective communication with patients, families, and the care team
- Accurate electronic documentation and charting
- Ability to complete specialty competency testing and skills checklists
