Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care for neuro surgical patients in the operating room
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, techs and support staff to ensure smooth case flow
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields and surgical instrumentation specific to neurosurgery
• Monitor patients intraoperatively and respond promptly to changes in condition
• Anticipate needs during procedures and proactively supply necessary equipment and supplies
• Document perioperative care and patient status accurately and promptly in the record
• Participate in safety checks, time-outs, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of assignment or compact licensure where applicable
• Current BLS required; ACLS and/or specialty neuro certifications preferred
• Operating Room experience with neurosurgery cases preferred
• CNOR certification is a strong plus
• Ability to pass background screening and drug testing per facility requirements
• Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills in high-acuity settings

Education

• Completion of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) and active RN licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of sterile technique and perioperative nursing principles
• Familiarity with neurosurgical instruments, equipment and intraoperative monitoring
• Proficient patient assessment and the ability to prioritize under pressure
• Experience with electronic medical records and accurate documentation practices
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working within the surgical team
