Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide full-time occupational therapy services for outpatient and inpatient populations across the lifespan
- Perform patient assessments and develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
- Deliver ADL training and therapeutic exercise programs tailored to patient needs
- Use modalities as appropriate (ultrasound, electrical stimulation) and adapt treatment for village-based settings
- Conduct home visits and village outreach, bringing portable therapy tools and programs
- Document patient care thoroughly and compose clear medical correspondence
- Collaborate closely with medical providers and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
- Respect and integrate cultural competency into care delivery and patient education
- Modify care plans with age- and patient-specific considerations and maintain professional conduct
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Licensed Occupational Therapist in Alaska, or a good-standing OT license in another state while awaiting Alaska licensure
- Current NBCOT certification required
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- No minimum clinical experience required (experience preferred)
- Completed required immunizations or acceptable titers (Hep A, Hep B, Varicella, MMR, Tdap, Polio)
- Successful completion of background checks, national/criminal checks, 10-panel drug screen (within 90 days), fit test/physical and registry checks as required for onboarding
- Willingness and ability to travel for home visits and village work and to work in shared housing
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy (accredited program)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient patient documentation and medical correspondence skills
- Strong foundation in evidence-based practice and ability to apply literature to clinical care
- ADL training, therapeutic exercise, and use of modalities (ultrasound, electrical stimulation)
- Experience with home-based care and making effective treatment plans with limited equipment
- Excellent communication skills across cultures and with multidisciplinary teams
- Interdisciplinary collaboration and flexible problem-solving in rural settings
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret occupational therapy periodicals and medical literature
