Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered perioperative care across pre-op, intra-op, and post-op phases
• Perform circulating and scrub responsibilities to ensure smooth, safe surgical procedures
• Prepare and maintain sterile fields and uphold strict infection control practices
• Assist surgeons and anesthesia providers with instrumentation, positioning, and patient needs
• Support patient recovery in PACU and coordinate safe handoffs to the care team
• Document assessments, interventions, and surgical events accurately in the patient record
• Participate in on-call rotations and weekend coverage to support continuous surgical services
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve processes and patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active California RN license required
• Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree (BSN) preferred
• Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 1+ year of operating room / surgical nursing experience
• Experience in circulating and/or scrubbing roles is expected
• Comfortable participating in on-call rotations and working some weekends
• Strong ability to follow perioperative standards and sterile technique

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of perioperative standards and sterile technique
• Experienced with circulating and scrubbing workflows in the OR
• PACU care, pre-operative and post-operative patient assessment
• Familiarity with surgical instrumentation, specimen handling, and safety protocols
• Good clinical judgment, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize in fast-paced settings
• Strong teamwork, clear communication, and documentation skills
• Comfort working with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative support staff
