Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient initial assessments to identify needs, plan care, and ensure appropriate placement
• Perform utilization review using InterQual criteria to support appropriate care and documentation
• Document assessments, plans, and utilization decisions in EPIC with clarity and timeliness
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate safe transitions of care and discharge plans
• Advocate for patients by identifying resources and coordinating services that support recovery
• Review clinical data and communicate findings to providers, payors, and care teams to drive quality outcomes
• Support case management processes that improve patient flow and resource utilization

Qualifications

• Active California RN license (required)
• Strong Utilization Review experience with InterQual (required)
• Hands-on EPIC EMR documentation experience
• Acute care hospital experience and comfort with fast-paced clinical environments
• Experience conducting patient initial assessments and developing care plans
• Available to work a contract travel assignment (Monday-Friday, daytime hours)

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep familiarity with Utilization Review principles and InterQual criteria
• Proficiency in EPIC documentation workflows
• Knowledge of acute care processes, discharge planning, and case management best practices
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Clear verbal and written communication for interdisciplinary collaboration
• Ability to manage case load and prioritize complex patient needs
