Roles & Responsibilities
- Treat patients per the Physical Therapist’s plan of care, delivering hands-on therapeutic interventions
- Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes in compliance with PT Board requirements
- Assist with maintenance and cleanliness of the treatment area and department equipment
- Participate in patient care and rehabilitation conferences to coordinate goals and progress
- Provide caregiver and family training to support patient discharge plans
- Support nursing staff by training Restorative Aides and participating in in-service education
- Communicate patient progress, problems, and plans clearly with supervisors and interdisciplinary team members
- Promptly report any equipment issues to ensure safe, effective treatment delivery
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in good standing (must hold or obtain California PTA license)
- Proficient with electronic documentation systems—experience with Casamba and PointClickCare is a plus
- Able to meet continuing education requirements as required by state board
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Comfortable providing direct patient care in a skilled nursing/rehabilitation setting
Education
- Associate degree or diploma in Physical Therapist Assistant or equivalent
- Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient care and therapeutic treatment per physician/therapist plan
- Accurate documentation: treatment notes, progress notes, and PT Board compliance
- Rehabilitation principles and restorative care techniques
- Caregiver training and staff in-service instruction
- Basic equipment maintenance and safe handling
- Computer skills for inputting data into Casamba and PointClickCare
- Professional, positive rapport-building with patients/residents and colleagues
