Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess individualized patient needs and use those findings to shape excellent care plans
• Plan, implement and evaluate nursing care with clinical judgment and compassion
• Provide clinical leadership to the patient care team for your assigned shift, guiding safe, coordinated care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure smooth transitions and quality outcomes
• Document care clearly and thoroughly in Cerner EMR to maintain continuity and compliance
• Maintain required certifications and licensure to support patient safety and unit readiness
• Support a positive patient experience by educating patients and families and advocating for their needs

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (must be active and verifiable in Nursys)
• Minimum 3+ years Med Surg (MS) nursing experience — required
• Current American Heart Association BLS (required)
• ACLS (AHA) required within 30 days of start
• Completed work history and skills checklist (current to 1 year) relevant to Med Surg
• Two completed supervisory reference forms with dates employed
• Permanent address documentation required (applicants within 50 miles of facility are not eligible)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment skills and clinical decision making
• Care planning, implementation and evaluation in medical-surgical settings
• Clinical leadership and teamwork on the unit
• Experience with Cerner EMR for documentation and order management
• Comfortable managing multiple patients and priorities with safety and empathy
• Familiarity with acute care standards, infection control and patient experience best practices
