Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality post-operative care to cardiac surgery and CVICU patients with compassion and precision
• Continuously monitor hemodynamics and cardiac rhythms, responding promptly to changes in condition
• Manage vasoactive drips, ventilators and advanced monitoring devices in collaboration with the care team
• Coordinate patient care with surgeons, intensivists, perfusionists and allied health professionals
• Educate patients and families about post-op recovery, discharge planning and follow-up care
• Complete accurate, timely documentation and participate in Trinity specialty competency testing and checklists to maintain standards

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (able to practice in Ohio)
• Critical care experience in CVICU or Cardiac ICU with demonstrated open-heart surgery experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications; NIHSS certification as noted
• Completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing prior to start
• Required pre-employment health and screening: fit testing, 2-step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/T-Spot), Trinity 10-panel drug screen, Trinity color vision test, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, Varicella, and a physical/health statement
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and ability to work in a high-acuity team environment

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in cardiac monitoring, EKG interpretation and post-op cardiac assessments
• Proficiency with hemodynamic monitoring devices and titration of vasoactive medications
• Experience with ventilator management and multisystem critical care
• Ability to prioritize, triage and respond quickly in emergent situations
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and patient/family education skills
• Comfort with unit-specific competency testing and maintaining compliance with credentialing requirements
