Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Support mobility and safe transfers while encouraging independence and dignity
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
- Assist with personal hygiene, grooming, and feeding needs in a respectful manner
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and observations
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver person-centered care
- Promote a clean, safe environment and follow infection prevention practices
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent credential
- Placement on the appropriate state nursing assistant registry if required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings (TB, immunizations)
- Strong communication skills and a patient, respectful bedside manner
- Reliable attendance and ability to perform physical aspects of the role
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completion of an approved GNA or nursing assistant program preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with ADLs, transfers, and basic bedside care
- Familiarity with infection control and standard precautions
- Comfortable with basic charting and following care plans
- Ability to observe and report changes in resident condition
- Team player mindset and good interpersonal skills with residents and families
