Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: Day 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM and Night 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM. No set schedules; includes weekends and holidays as needed. Weekend requirement: must work 4 weekend shifts per schedule (Night weekend = Friday & Saturday; Day weekend = Saturday & Sunday). Night hires must be available for 2-3 days of day-shift orientation.

Candidate Pay Rate: $34 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform remote surveillance of cardio-pulmonary rhythms from a centralized monitoring station to keep patients safe
- Recognize, record and report potentially dangerous rhythm changes and arrhythmias according to established protocols
- Communicate clearly and promptly with local RN staff, following proper escalation channels in routine and emergency situations
- Operate and monitor GE and Ascom monitoring equipment and ensure reliable connectivity
- Accurately document events in Cerner and other charting systems as required
- Support department metrics and continuous improvement efforts to enhance patient outcomes
- Participate in unit-specific orientation and the GE team go-live to ensure a seamless transition
- Cross-train into related roles (Virtual Patient Companion, Clinical Connection Specialist) when opportunities arise
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited program that includes EKG interpretation
- Minimum 2 years of recent related work experience required; 3 years preferred
- BLS certification required
- Must pass the Advanced Dysrhythmia exam prior to accepting the assignment (lethal rhythms are pass/fail; single attempt)
- Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts, weekends and holidays as needed
- Available for 2-3 days of day-shift orientation if hired to night shift
- Cannot hold another job while on assignment; strict no-cell-phone policy (hospital issues work phone)
- Ability to follow established protocols, communicate effectively, and work under RN direction
Education
- Graduation from an accredited program that includes EKG interpretation (required)
- BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry and centralized/remote monitoring expertise
- Strong EKG interpretation and cardiac rhythm/arrhythmia recognition
- Familiarity with GE monitoring systems and Ascom communication tools
- Experience with Cerner or similar electronic charting systems
- Clinical communication, escalation, and adherence to protocols
- Comfort managing high patient loads virtually (up to ~45-60 patients per tech)
- Detail-oriented documentation and situational awareness in acute care settings
