Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, schedule varies with self-scheduling and scheduler rebalancing, includes weekends (typically 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks; some documentation lists 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks), holidays scheduled per unit coverage

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert critical care nursing for adult ICU patients in SICU/MICU/TICU pods
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias with appropriate interventions
- Manage ventilators including Cervo I, Jet and Oscillator modalities
- Titrate and monitor common drips safely and per protocol
- Perform and maintain sterile technique for bedside procedures such as Foley insertion and central line dressing changes
- Collaborate with intensivists, respiratory therapists and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high quality care
- Float across ICU areas and occasionally to MedSurg/Tele and Westgate campus as needed
- Participate in unit SIMs Lab and pass required competency evaluations on day one of orientation
Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing (must be able to submit license)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required, with Level 1 trauma experience (must have worked in a 600+ bed teaching facility)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications, NIHSS required
- Successful completion of a dysrhythmia competency exam (travelers allowed two attempts)
- Competent in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing change, or willingness to demonstrate competency in SIMs Lab
- Experience with ventilator management and reading/interpreting cardiac strips independently
- Familiarity with Cerner electronic charting
- Travel teams must have their own vehicle
- Facility requirements: natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean shaven for fit testing
Education
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BSN not required for submission
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong critical care assessment and clinical decision making
- Cardiac rhythm recognition and dysrhythmia management
- Ventilator modes and bedside ventilator troubleshooting
- Central line care and maintenance, sterile field adherence
- Medication titration and drip management
- Familiarity with telemetry and independence reading strips
- Experience with Cerner charting workflows
- Comfort working in high acuity, trauma and transplant patient populations
