Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living to older adults
- Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and toileting while preserving dignity
- Monitor residents’ conditions and promptly report changes to the nursing team
- Document care, observations, and any concerns accurately and on time
- Support mobility and safe transfer techniques to reduce fall risk
- Engage residents in social and therapeutic activities to promote wellbeing
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and facility staff to deliver coordinated care
Qualifications
- GNA certification (required) — you know your way around geriatric care
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Demonstrated experience assisting older adults or in long-term care settings is a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; compassionate bedside manner
- Ability to follow care plans, charting procedures, and facility policies
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA certification or equivalent state-approved nursing assistant certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with activities of daily living and resident assistance
- Understanding of basic infection control and safety procedures
- Ability to observe and report changes in resident condition
- Basic documentation and charting skills
- Teamwork mindset and ability to follow clinical direction
