Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report observations to the nursing team
- Accurately document care, vitals, and resident interactions in the chart or EHR
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and support staff to deliver person-centered care plans
- Promote dignity, independence, and engagement by encouraging social and therapeutic activities
- Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies at all times
Qualifications
- GNA certification or equivalent (preferred or required by facility)
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
- Previous experience in geriatric or long-term care is a plus
- Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and meet facility health requirements
- Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic bedside manner
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- GNA certification or equivalent training required or preferred by facility
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfort with basic clinical tasks: vital signs, feeding assistance, toileting, and repositioning
- Good documentation practices and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Time management and prioritization in a busy care environment
- Understanding of resident rights, dignity, and age-related care needs
- Basic familiarity with common safety and infection control practices
