Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide specialized, compassionate nursing care for Level III NICU infants
• Attend deliveries and support the neonatology team when newborns require NICU-level care
• Continuously monitor and document newborn status, interventions, and responses
• Collaborate with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and families to create and execute care plans
• Perform skilled neonatal procedures and manage advanced support devices safely
• Educate and support families, helping them participate in their infant’s care
• Contribute to unit quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of Level 3 NICU experience (required)
• Experience with delivery attendance (required)
• Active Registered Nurse license in California (or compact state eligibility as applicable)
• Current BLS certification; NRP strongly preferred
• Comfort working night shift rotations and managing high-acuity neonatal patients
• Strong teamwork, communication, and family-centered care orientation

Education

• Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in neonatal assessment and high-acuity nursing interventions
• Familiarity with ventilator management and neonatal respiratory support
• Skill with IV/central line management, neonatal medication administration, and feeding support
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritize rapidly changing needs
