Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide specialized, compassionate nursing care for Level III NICU infants
- Attend deliveries and support the neonatology team when newborns require NICU-level care
- Continuously monitor and document newborn status, interventions, and responses
- Collaborate with neonatologists, respiratory therapists, and families to create and execute care plans
- Perform skilled neonatal procedures and manage advanced support devices safely
- Educate and support families, helping them participate in their infant’s care
- Contribute to unit quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
Qualifications
- Minimum two years of Level 3 NICU experience (required)
- Experience with delivery attendance (required)
- Active Registered Nurse license in California (or compact state eligibility as applicable)
- Current BLS certification; NRP strongly preferred
- Comfort working night shift rotations and managing high-acuity neonatal patients
- Strong teamwork, communication, and family-centered care orientation
Education
- Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in neonatal assessment and high-acuity nursing interventions
- Familiarity with ventilator management and neonatal respiratory support
- Skill with IV/central line management, neonatal medication administration, and feeding support
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritize rapidly changing needs
