Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
- Monitor and record vital signs and resident condition, reporting changes to nursing staff promptly
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Document care accurately and clearly to ensure continuity and quality
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families through respectful, person-centered communication
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control and safety protocols
- Participate in shift handoffs and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to meet resident needs
Qualifications
- GNA certification or completion of a recognized GNA program (required)
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Current CPR/BLS certification (preferred or obtain shortly after hire)
- Comfort working nights and with geriatric populations
- Ability to pass background check and meet facility onboarding requirements
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of a GNA program required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of elder care best practices and dignity-preserving care
- Ability to take and document basic vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures
- Comfortable with resident mobility assistance and safe transfer techniques
- Good observational skills and the ability to report clinical changes clearly
- Compassionate, patient-centered communication and teamwork
