Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, respectful personal care to residents, supporting dignity and comfort
• Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting) with patience and privacy
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistance devices when needed
• Monitor resident condition and report changes promptly to the nursing team to ensure timely care
• Document care activities and observations accurately to keep the care plan current
• Collaborate with teammates and families to deliver person-centered care
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents

Qualifications

• GNA certification (listed as Class: GNA) — required or as specified by the facility
• Completion of an approved GNA training program or equivalent
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
• Background check and immunizations as required by facility policy
• Comfort working with older adults and a genuine interest in geriatric care
• Positive communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of an approved GNA program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic nursing care
• Vital signs and early recognition of changes in resident condition
• Infection control principles and safe hygiene practices
• Safe transfer and mobility assistance techniques
• Accurate documentation and basic charting skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and empathy for residents and families
• Time management and ability to prioritize care tasks
• Teamwork and clear communication with nursing staff
