Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor maternal and fetal status using continuous fetal monitoring and intervene promptly to keep mom and baby safe
• Circulate and assist in C-section cases and manage recovery needs in the post-anesthesia/postoperative period
• Provide hands-on postpartum care and float to the postpartum unit as patient needs dictate
• Document care accurately and efficiently in EPIC to ensure continuity and clear communication
• Support newborn care during the immediate recovery period and coordinate with neonatal team when needed
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary teams during labor, delivery and emergency situations
• Educate patients and families on labor progress, postpartum expectations, and newborn care in a compassionate way
• Maintain required certifications and participate in unit-based quality and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current RN license (California preferred) — ready to practice in-state
• Proven experience in Labor & Delivery nursing — you know your way around a delivery room
• Fetal Monitoring certification — required and essential for this role
• EPIC experience — must-have for documentation and charting
• Comfortable circulating and recovering C-section patients and able to float to postpartum
• Ability to work nights and meet the every-other-weekend requirement
• Preferred: experience caring for newborns during recovery

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — equivalent clinical experience accepted

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong fetal monitoring interpretation and intervention skills
• Proficiency with EPIC charting and electronic documentation
• C-section circulating and post-op recovery protocols
• Postpartum assessment and maternal-newborn bonding support
• Neonatal recovery care basics during the immediate postpartum period
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and crisis management skills
• Comfort with emergency obstetric interventions and rapid response workflows
