Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess communication and swallowing needs using evidence-based evaluation methods
• Develop individualized treatment plans that help patients meet meaningful goals
• Provide skilled therapy and adapt interventions for progress across rehabilitation settings
• Document evaluations, progress notes and discharge summaries accurately and on time
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists and families to support coordinated patient care
• Train and mentor support staff and caregivers to reinforce therapy goals
• Monitor outcomes and modify plans to ensure measurable improvements in function
• Communicate clearly with patients and families to set expectations and celebrate progress

Qualifications

• Current New Mexico SLP license or ability to obtain licensure promptly
• ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or equivalent clinical certification
• Active enrollment or account with New Mexico caregiver/agency portal as required
• Experience in skilled nursing, inpatient rehabilitation, or similar settings preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain
• Clear background check and required immunizations per facility policy

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field (required)
• ASHA CCC-SLP preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in adult and/or pediatric speech, language, and swallowing evaluation
• Skilled clinical reasoning and use of outcome-driven treatment plans
• Strong documentation skills and familiarity with clinical charting best practices
• Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to adapt therapy techniques to a variety of diagnoses and functional levels
• Comfortable with therapeutic equipment and assistive communication devices
