Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and support to geriatric residents, preserving dignity and independence
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Support safe mobility and fall prevention efforts during transfers and ambulation
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report observations to nursing staff
- Document care accurately and timely in resident charts and care plans
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care
- Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for residents and families
Qualifications
- GNA certification (state-approved) required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
- Comfortable working with older adults and assisting with personal care
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable, professional demeanor and a commitment to resident-centered care
- Immunizations and TB screening per facility requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and geriatric care principles
- Basic vital sign monitoring and observation skills
- Infection control and safe patient handling practices
- Accurate charting and attention to detail
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
