Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide reliable surgical case assistance to ensure procedures run smoothly and efficiently
• Prepare the operating room and supplies using physician preference cards and aseptic technique
• Maintain a sterile field from setup through dressing placement to protect patient safety
• Assist with patient positioning on the OR table under RN guidance to ensure comfort and procedural access
• Perform surgical preps under RN supervision and open sterile supplies as needed
• Clean and turnover the room promptly after cases to minimize downtime and support team flow
• Pull, sterilize and verify instruments; complete Central Processing Coordinator duties on a rotating basis
• Update and maintain surgeon preference cards so the team is always ready for the next case
• Communicate clearly with surgeons, nurses, patients and families to support excellent care

Qualifications

• Must maintain Certification in the State of Colorado as an OR Tech
• BLS certification required (current)
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of 1 year relevant surgical technology experience
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program preferred
• Comfortable with on-call responsibilities and flexible scheduling
• Able to work under the supervision of an RN and follow OR policies/procedures

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required

Knowledge & Skills

• Sterile technique and aseptic practice expertise
• Operating room assistance and patient positioning skills
• Instrument sterilization and sterile processing knowledge
• Familiarity with physician preference cards and preference card management
• Understanding of surgical equipment and case-specific setups
• Strong communication, teamwork and patient safety awareness
• Ability to perform fast, accurate room turnover and case preparation
