Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, high-quality patient care on Med-Surg/Telemetry units for a 60-bed service
• Continuously monitor telemetry and cardiac rhythms, recognizing and escalating arrhythmias and changes in cardiac status
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely using Alaris IV pumps and perform IV starts as needed
• Use capnography, glucometers and dynamaps effectively to assess and document patient status
• Document care accurately in the Alterra (Allscripts) EMR and maintain timely charting
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams — RNs, LVNs, PCTs and unit leadership — to deliver coordinated care
• Float to adjacent areas (inpatient rehab, ED, PCU) as required, staying within your scope and skill level

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (Texas or compact licensure preferred/accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med-Surg and/or Telemetry nursing experience
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHS (as listed by the unit)
• Strong IV skills and experience with cardiac recognition
• Comfortable using Allscripts/Alterra EMR and common bedside equipment
• Team-oriented, positive attitude, strong time-management skills, and flexibility to float as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Med-Surg clinical assessment and patient care planning
• IV therapy, IV starts and medication administration using Alaris pumps
• Capnography interpretation and bedside monitoring devices (glucometers, dynamaps)
• Proficient documentation in Allscripts/Alterra EMR
• Effective time management, prioritization, and teamwork in fast-paced settings
