Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate perioperative and surgical services to ensure safe, efficient patient care
- Supervise circulating RNs and clinical staff while fostering a collaborative team culture
- Oversee post-anesthesia care activities and ensure high standards of patient recovery
- Identify operational issues in the surgical department and implement effective short- and long-term solutions
- Delegate tasks and maintain efficient standards of operations to support smooth workflows
- Maintain composure and provide decisive leadership during clinical emergencies
- Work closely with physicians, ancillary departments, and peers to optimize patient outcomes
- Champion staff development, performance feedback, and a patient-first mindset
Qualifications
- Current California RN license (required)
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (required)
- Bachelor degree or equivalent (required)
- Minimum 5 years RN experience, including at least 2 years as a circulating RN in surgery (required)
- AHA BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications (current/required)
- CNOR certification preferred
- One year post-anesthesia care experience preferred
- Previous leadership, supervisory or management experience preferred
- Strong written and oral English communication skills
Education
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Bachelor degree or equivalent (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative and surgical services management
- Circulating RN experience in the OR and post-anesthesia care concepts
- Clinical leadership, team supervision, and staff development
- Ability to assess problems, triage priorities, and implement practical solutions
- Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams and physicians
- Maintains calm under pressure and leads during emergency situations
- Familiarity with infection control, hazardous materials, and safe patient handling
