Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic sonographic exams (ABD, OB/GYN and other requested studies) with accuracy and care
• Maintain clear, timely patient records and exam documentation for quality patient care
• Own departmental quality assurance tasks and help keep standards high
• Care for transducers and equipment, including Trophon station maintenance
• Consult with referring physicians to ensure imaging supports clinical decisions
• Assist with ultrasound invasive procedures and provide hands-on patient support
• Transfer and prepare patients safely for imaging procedures
• Support accreditation efforts and participate in department meetings and drills
• Assume lead responsibilities in the absence of a supervisor and mentor peers
• Pursue continuing education to meet RDMS requirements and advance skills

Qualifications

• Current ARDMS in one category (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required)
• Ability to perform diagnostic exams related to assigned modality (AB/OB experience preferred)
• Willingness to rotate shifts and travel between SEARHC sites as needed
• Comfort working with patients across the lifespan and in diverse cultural settings
• Ability to function well under stress and adapt to changing clinical needs
• Desire to pursue additional RDMS categories (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, RDCS) is a plus

Education

• ARDMS certification in at least one category (required)
• Formal training or certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in diagnostic medical sonography techniques and modalities (ABD, OB/GYN, vascular, cardiac)
• Strong patient communication and compassionate bedside manner
• Accurate exam documentation and familiarity with patient records systems
• Quality assurance processes and infection control practices
• Transducer care, Trophon station use, and general equipment stewardship
• Ability to consult effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams
• Willingness to learn other imaging modalities as the department needs
