Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care for orthopedic surgery patients
• Perform dressing changes and manage wound vac maintenance and removal
• Manage Foley catheters and NG tube care safely and efficiently
• Remove sutures and staples and monitor incision healing
• Document patient care and assessments in Cerner EMR accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient-focused care
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care and discharge instructions
• Prioritize patient safety and positive patient experience on a fast-paced unit

Qualifications

• Active NC Registered Nurse license (required)
• Current BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (as stated)
• Previous hospital and/or orthopedic experience preferred
• Comfortable working on a busy orthopedics unit and adapting to change
• Team-player attitude with strong communication and clinical judgment

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthopedic nursing and post-operative care
• Cerner EMR documentation and workflows
• Wound care and wound vac maintenance
• Foley catheter management and urinary care
• NG tube management
• Suture and staple removal
• General Med-Surg skills and adaptability to float when needed
• Ability to manage patient ratios typical for day/night orthopedics staffing
