Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and maintain an organization-wide risk management program that keeps patients safe
- Investigate and evaluate adverse incidents and ensure regulatory reporting compliance
- Direct and facilitate Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Mode Effects Analyses (FMEA)
- Coordinate disclosure and follow-up with patients, families, and clinical teams
- Facilitate Patient Safety Rounds and promote a culture of safety across the facility
- Provide risk management and patient safety education to staff, leaders, and physicians
- Support accreditation and quality activities including chart audits and clinical reviews
- Collaborate closely with Medical Directors, CMO, and corporate counsel on peer review and quality issues
Qualifications
- Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska (active or applied prior to start for direct hire)
- CPHRM certification required within two (2) years of hire
- Clinical competency demonstrated within 3 months and maintained every 3 years
- Minimum 3 years of experience in risk management, patient safety, quality, or regulatory compliance
- Proven leadership in facilitating cross-functional teams and driving process improvements
- Strong communication skills and experience coordinating disclosures and grievance analysis
Education
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Risk Management and Patient Safety program development
- Incident investigation, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and FMEA facilitation
- Regulatory knowledge: DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF and relevant Alaska statutes
- Accreditation support, chart audits, and clinical review processes
- Interdisciplinary collaboration and team facilitation
- Data support and analysis for quality improvement
- Effective communication, mentorship, and education delivery
