Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist, using therapeutic procedures to improve function
- Deliver therapeutic modalities and train patients in the safe use of assistive devices
- Work to restore muscle strength, range of motion, coordination and mobility
- Apply hands-on techniques and exercise programs to relieve pain and improve alignment
- Document patient progress and communicate effectively with the treating Physical Therapist and care team
- Follow the State Practice Act and facility policies to ensure safe, compliant care
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (LPTA) — valid California PTA license required
- Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program
- Comfortable providing direct patient care and following clinical direction from a PT
- Strong documentation skills and ability to communicate with interdisciplinary teams
- A patient-centered attitude and commitment to improving mobility and quality of life
Education
- Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient care with emphasis on mobility, strength and function
- Therapeutic modalities and therapeutic procedures
- Use and training in assistive devices
- Range of motion assessment and restorative techniques
- Pain management strategies and rehabilitation principles
- Attention to body alignment, coordination and safe movement training
- Clear documentation and clinical communication
