Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered oncology nursing care on a 24-bed Oncology/Women's Surgical unit
- Perform thorough assessments and develop nursing plans that improve patient outcomes
- Document care accurately using Cerner EMR to ensure continuity and quality
- Support safe medication administration and coordinate care around chemotherapy when certified
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to plan and execute procedures such as pelvic exams, echo, and thoracentesis
- Educate patients and families about treatments, symptom management, and discharge plans
- Advocate for patients, prioritize safety, and contribute to a positive unit culture
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
- CNA license noted in the posting (listed as part of typical licensure profile)
- BLS certification (required)
- Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (explicitly listed)
- Chemo Certification preferred — candidates with this will be prioritized
- Comfortable using Cerner EMR for documentation and order management
- Team player mindset and willingness to learn in a fast-paced unit
Knowledge & Skills
- Oncology nursing fundamentals and patient-centered care
- Experience with Cerner electronic medical records
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical judgment skills
- IV therapy knowledge and safe medication administration practices
- Comfort supporting or performing procedures such as pelvic exams, echo, and thoracentesis
- Effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Ability to manage patient ratios commonly 1:4 or 1:5 on this unit
