Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, direct nursing care to Med-Surg patients under limited supervision
• Assess patients continuously and create prioritized plans of care that make a real difference
• Administer medications and IV therapies accurately and safely
• Document patient progress clearly, concisely, and in a timely manner to support continuity of care
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other departments to coordinate excellent patient outcomes
• Support infection control policies and promote a safe environment for patients and staff
• Respond calmly and effectively in emergencies and assist in guiding others during critical moments
• Participate in orientation and ongoing in-service training to keep skills sharp

Qualifications

• Current Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
• Minimum 2 years acute care (Med-Surg) experience
• Healthcare Provider BLS certification (required)
• ACLS certification preferred
• Abuse Reporter Certification required within 6 months of hire
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well
• Comfort with rotating shifts, weekends, and holiday scheduling

Knowledge & Skills

• Med-Surg nursing fundamentals and acute care clinical judgment
• Patient assessment and prioritization of care needs
• Medication administration and IV therapy proficiency
• Accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Infection control practices and safe clinical technique
• Effective communication and teamwork across shifts
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional conduct under stress
• Familiarity with hospital policies, Nurse Practice Act, and common EMR workflows
