Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to CVICU patients following unit protocols
• Monitor and interpret complex hemodynamic and cardiac telemetry data to guide care decisions
• Administer and titrate critical care medications, including vasoactive and antiarrhythmic agents
• Manage ventilators and advanced life support equipment as part of post-op and critical care
• Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, pharmacists and the care team to develop and execute care plans
• Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery expectations and post-discharge care
• Accurately document assessments, interventions and patient responses in the medical record

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to practice in Texas) — travel nurse licensure support often available
• Minimum 1 year of recent CVICU/critical care nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certification (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• Comfort with advanced cardiac monitoring, ventilator management and vasoactive drips
• Strong clinical judgment, detailed documentation skills and ability to thrive in fast-paced teams

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth cardiac and post-operative critical care knowledge
• Proficiency with telemetry, hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator settings
• Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills under pressure
• Clear communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary clinicians
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation and medication administration safety
