Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality mammography exams following departmental imaging protocols for accurate diagnostic interpretation
- Practice radiation safety and adhere to ALARA standards to protect patients and staff
- Operate and troubleshoot mammography equipment; coordinate service calls when needed
- Maintain daily QA, preventative maintenance scheduling, and accreditation records
- Provide patient education, obtain informed consent, and ensure accurate patient identification
- Document clinical information and maintain accurate patient records in the EHR
- Support continuous quality improvement through structured reporting, audit tracking, and workflow resolution
- Assist, train, and cross-train imaging staff; participate in departmental meetings and required training
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program
- ARRT registered in Radiology (R) and Mammography (M) — required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 90 days of hire
- Preferred: Two (2) years prior experience as a Radiologic Technologist and experience in CT and MRI
- Experience with PACS, RIS/HIS, and EHR systems
- Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of background check, pre-employment drug screen, and any required employee health steps
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program
Knowledge & Skills
- Mammography imaging procedures and advanced breast imaging techniques
- Radiation safety principles and ALARA practices
- Quality Assurance (QA) processes and accreditation documentation
- PACS, RIS/HIS, and EHR workflow and documentation
- Imaging protocols and the ability to follow or coordinate protocols with radiologists
- Patient education and communication skills for sensitive imaging exams
- Basic equipment troubleshooting and preventive maintenance coordination
- Cross-modality familiarity (CT, MRI, DEXA) and willingness to assist across modalities
