Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for high-quality diagnostic Nuclear Medicine studies with compassion and clarity
- Perform and document diagnostic scans in accordance with established protocols and safety standards
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and monitor patients before, during, and after procedures
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot imaging equipment (gamma camera, dose calibrator, well counter, etc.)
- Ensure radiation safety and proper use of PPE, including leaded protective equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and report equipment issues promptly
- Communicate findings and collaborate with radiologists and physicians effectively
- Participate in teaching and instructional activities to support learners and colleagues
Qualifications
- Current Hawaiʻi license as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (required)
- Current BLS/HCP certification (required)
- One (1) year of Nuclear Medicine experience preferred — new grads welcome to apply!
- Demonstrated knowledge of nuclear medicine physics and radiopharmaceutical administration
- Strong critical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a single-tech site
- Comfort caring for patients of all ages, including pediatric and adult populations
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient preparation and compassionate patient care
- Radiopharmaceutical administration and radiation safety protocols
- Hands-on operation of gamma camera, dose calibrator, survey meters, well counter, and thyroid uptake probe
- Equipment troubleshooting and routine maintenance
- Understanding of nuclear medicine physics and imaging principles
- Clear communication with radiologists, physicians, and the care team
- Teaching/instruction skills and willingness to mentor learners
- Experience or comfort working in rural healthcare settings
