Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct, compassionate care to critically ill medical/surgical patients from admission through discharge
- Operate and manage advanced medical equipment including ventilators, A-lines/central lines, invasive lines, IV pumps, and chest tubes
- Perform thorough patient assessments and implement evidence-based nursing interventions with minimal supervision
- Act as a clinical leader on the unit: mentor, precept, and guide RN, LPN, CNA and support staff
- Coordinate discharge planning and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless transitions of care
- Communicate clearly with providers, charge nurses, supervisors and leadership to optimize patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Current RN licensure in Montana (required)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
- PALS, EPNC, TNCC certifications (preferred)
- Recent experience practicing in an advanced medical/surgical unit with recent Critical Care nursing experience (required)
- Comfort and demonstrated competence with mechanical ventilation, central line and invasive line management, IV pump management, and chest tube care
Education
- Degree from an accredited Nursing Program (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and advanced nursing principles
- Direct patient care across complex medical/surgical and ventilated patients
- Mechanical ventilation management
- Central line (A-line) and invasive line care
- IV pump and multiple infusion management
- Chest tube management
- Clinical leadership, precepting, and team coordination
- Familiarity with basic office equipment and documentation workflows
