Roles & Responsibilities
- Train clinicians and staff on the Electronic Health Record and ancillary clinical systems using classroom, one‑on‑one, and virtual methods
- Configure and optimize clinical content in partnership with medical staff across inpatient and outpatient settings
- Develop clear, user-friendly training materials and documentation
- Triage and troubleshoot user issues, escalating to the right subject matter expert when needed
- Maintain and update application content (labs, meds, immunizations, codes) to reflect current clinical practice
- Continuously evaluate clinical decision support and recommend improvements to enhance patient care
- Collaborate closely with IT, clinical teams, vendors, and leadership to align systems and workflows
- Support implementations and go‑lives, including working outside regular hours when necessary
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — Alaska license required for agency staff; direct hires must have applied for Alaska licensure prior to start
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum 5 years clinical or medical‑setting experience
- At least 2 years experience working with clinical information systems
- At least 1 year experience with computer technology (programming, installation, reporting, or hardware)
- BSN preferred; advanced degree(s) may substitute for experience on a year‑for‑year basis
- Clinical informatics training, teaching experience, and inpatient clinical experience are all pluses
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- BSN preferred
- Advanced degree(s) may substitute for required experience on a year-by-year basis
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of EHRs and clinical applications maintenance/configuration
- Experience with clinical content, medical decision support, and process improvement
- Familiarity with HL7 messaging and ancillary systems (scheduling, radiology, lab, document scanning)
- Comfort troubleshooting technical issues and collaborating with IT teams
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and work both independently and collaboratively
- Willingness to travel regionally by jet, small aircraft, and ferry
