Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, mobility, and toileting
- Take and record basic vital signs and report changes in condition to nursing staff
- Support safe transfers and ambulation using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Document care accurately and timely to ensure continuity and quality of care
- Communicate clearly with residents, families, and the care team to promote person-centered care
- Help maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control procedures
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification (required)
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with residents and families
- Ability to pass background and health screenings as required by the facility
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work scheduled per diem shifts
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident safety
- Skill with activities of daily living (ADLs) and safe transfer techniques
- Basic vital sign measurement and observation skills
- Comfortable with clear, concise documentation and communication
- Knowledge of infection control and hygiene best practices
- Team-oriented approach and ability to follow care plans
