Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, mobility, and toileting
• Take and record basic vital signs and report changes in condition to nursing staff
• Support safe transfers and ambulation using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Document care accurately and timely to ensure continuity and quality of care
• Communicate clearly with residents, families, and the care team to promote person-centered care
• Help maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control procedures

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification (required)
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with residents and families
• Ability to pass background and health screenings as required by the facility
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work scheduled per diem shifts

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident safety
• Skill with activities of daily living (ADLs) and safe transfer techniques
• Basic vital sign measurement and observation skills
• Comfortable with clear, concise documentation and communication
• Knowledge of infection control and hygiene best practices
• Team-oriented approach and ability to follow care plans
