Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality outpatient and inpatient occupational therapy care across all age groups and diagnoses within Alaska OT scope of practice
- Conduct home visits and village travel to deliver care where patients live — bring your portable treatment tools and resourcefulness
- Collaborate frequently with medical providers and community partners to coordinate patient-centered care
- Document patient care clearly and timely, composing professional medical correspondence and progress notes
- Implement evidence-based practice into individualized plans of care and modify interventions using age- and patient-specific considerations
- Deliver ADL training, therapeutic exercise, and modality-based interventions (ultrasound, electrical stimulation) as appropriate
- Demonstrate cultural competence and respectful communication when interacting with patients and community members
- Participate in periodic self-assessment and competency checks to maintain clinical excellence
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program (minimum required)
- Licensed in good standing as an OT in Alaska, or hold a good-standing OT license in another state while awaiting Alaska licensure
- Current NBCOT certification required
- Current BLS certification required
- No minimum clinical experience required (clinical experience preferred)
- Able and willing to perform home visits and village travel; bring portable treatment supplies as needed
- Must meet immunization requirements (Hep A, Hep B, Varicella, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Tdap, Polio) or provide titers/historical records
- Must pass background checks, national criminal checks, drug screen (10-panel within last 90 days), and required registry searches (OIG, SAM, National Sex Offender)
- Provide required onboarding documents: photo ID, SSN card, license/certification, education transcripts where required, fit test/physical, emergency contact, and 3 references
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in outpatient and inpatient occupational therapy interventions and documentation
- Experience with ADL training, therapeutic exercise, ultrasound and electrical stimulation modalities
- Comfortable conducting home visits and delivering care in village-based settings
- Strong didactic teaching skills and ability to educate patients, families and staff
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply occupational therapy literature and evidence-based practices
- Excellent communication skills across cultures, including non-English-speaking patients
- Competence with medical correspondence and composing clear patient care documentation
- Adaptability to work with diverse populations and in resource-limited environments
