Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and triage emergency patients quickly and accurately to prioritize lifesaving care
- Deliver evidence-based emergency and trauma nursing interventions with confidence
- Collaborate closely with physicians, techs, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care
- Document patient assessments, interventions and outcomes thoroughly in EPIC
- Maintain required certifications and participate in unit orientation and ongoing education
- Assist with safe patient transfers and handoffs, keeping patient safety front and center
- Support department operations during high-volume periods and adapt to changing priorities
Qualifications
- Active RN (Registered Nurse) licensure (state license required for practice)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (ER/trauma experience strongly preferred)
- Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS, PALS, TNCC
- Comfortable working in a high-acuity, fast-paced emergency department
- Experience with EPIC charting system
- Willingness to work nights and float within Zone 5 when needed
Education
- Active RN licensure required
- BSN not required (as stated in job data)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong emergency nursing and trauma assessment skills
- Proficient with EPIC electronic health records
- Skilled in ACLS/BLS protocols and pediatric emergency fundamentals (PALS)
- Familiar with NIHSS stroke assessment and trauma nursing care
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking under pressure
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and adapt in an acute care setting
