Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide thorough pre-operative assessments and prepare patients for surgery
- Deliver vigilant post-anesthesia care in the PACU to ensure safe recoveries
- Monitor vital signs, manage airways and address immediate post-op needs
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists and the perioperative team
- Educate patients and families on recovery expectations and discharge instructions
- Document care accurately and maintain compliance with facility protocols
- Participate in shared on-call duties for nights and weekends as scheduled
Qualifications
- Current California RN license required
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- TB clearance completed within 12 months of start
- Experience working in Pre-Op and/or PACU settings preferred
- Comfortable participating in shared on-call rotations (nights and weekends)
Education
- Active RN licensure in California required; ADN or BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Perioperative and post-anesthesia nursing principles
- Patient assessment, monitoring and triage in the immediate post-op period
- Medication administration and pain management in PACU
- Airway management and basic advanced life support skills
- Clear communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary surgical teams
- Accurate clinical documentation and familiarity with electronic charting
