Roles & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver high-quality medical-surgical nursing care for mostly adult patients with occasional pediatrics
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the Nursing Process to support excellent outcomes
• Collaborate with Unit Director, Clinical Nurse Lead, and Nursing Supervisor to manage patient flow and care needs
• Lead and mentor the bedside team during your shift to ensure safe, compassionate care
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in the EMR
• Triage and prioritize care needs across inpatient, outpatient, observation, and swing bed settings
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up care

Qualifications

• Current Vermont RN license or valid multi-state RN licensure prior to start
• Minimum 3 years of acute care nursing experience (Med/Surg experience required)
• BLS (American Heart Association) required before start
• ACLS certification required before start
• Familiarity with Meditech preferred
• Comfort caring primarily for adults with occasional pediatric patients (this is not a pediatric-only floor)
• Ability to upload all required credentials five business days prior to start

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical decision making and application of the Nursing Process
• Proven Med/Surg nursing skills including assessment, medication administration, and complex care coordination
• Experience with outpatient, observation, and swing bed care settings
• Effective communication and team collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently in a critical access hospital setting and escalate appropriately
• Basic EMR proficiency (Meditech preferred) and accurate clinical documentation
