Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic radiographic, portable, C-arm and fluoroscopic procedures with precision and patient-focused care
• Review clinical history and orders to ensure imaging is appropriate and safe; consult with radiologists when needed
• Provide clear patient education and comfort measures before, during, and after procedures
• Select and operate imaging equipment and image capture devices to produce diagnostic-quality images
• Position patients safely and respectfully to best demonstrate the anatomy of interest
• Initiate basic life support when necessary and follow safety protocols
• Determine radiographic technique and exposure factors while adhering to ALARA principles
• Apply radiation protection practices to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self
• Report and document safety incidents per protocol and participate in quality improvement
• Process and review images for proper identification and quality control prior to physician review
• Use PACS and radiology information systems to submit images and complete required documentation
• Assist radiologists during fluoroscopic and special procedures and prepare/assist with contrast media
• Provide hands-on instruction for students and training to new technologists, sharing best practices
• Coordinate scheduling adjustments and help with medication reconciliation and medical record/image sharing

Qualifications

• ARRT Radiography registration (required)
• IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation (required for practice in Illinois)
• Approved CPR or BLS certification (must be obtained within 90 days if not current)
• Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
• Minimum of 2 years of radiologic technologist experience
• Demonstrated proficiency with PACS, radiology information systems, and electronic medical records
• Experience with portable radiography, fluoroscopy, C-arm, and special procedures
• Comfortable working nights, weekends and participating in holiday rotation

Education

• Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology

• Operation of image capture devices, mobile radiologic equipment, and C-arm systems

• Basic Life Support and emergency response for patient safety
• Teaching and mentoring skills for students and new technologists
